hihi
I am so tired of answering the phone and being greeted by a complete stranger, somone who knows my name....
The dreaded telemarketer, but there is hope...

" WASHINGTON (AP) - Federal regulators are creating new protections for people plagued by unwanted telemarketing calls, establishing a national "do-not-call" list that consumers can use to keep their phones from ringing with sales pitches. "

Just go into your man-love-hotline voice, and tell them how long and hard your wang is.

I just wouldnt be able to do that to someone without feeling srry or just not being able to stop myself laughing. :/

Scuzzy's idea is good also the age old try and get their home number thing. I imagine they would have gotten used to that one by now and come up with some witty replies for it... at least youd hope so, maybe not. :?

Or just tell them you aren't interested, and hang up. It's not like the person calling you actually enjoys being a telemarketer ( they are called the sweatshops of the '00s ) so why be an arsehole to them.

Print this out and give it a go (i haven't tried it), it's an anti-telemarketer script. Looks decent enough.

I swear to god I'll pistol-whip the next person to put "hihi" at the beginning of their post

We all know telemarketers are annoying, but why do some companies try and pull the 'ol, "you have been selected out of blah blah amount of people" routines?

I'd love to know where they get that info from.

Just do what I do, take the days abuse and s*** you got from your l'users and give it to the poor unsuspecting slob on the end. If your really good at it like me, you'll get a return call from a supervisor who you can also tear a new a****** for.

Though my hat goes off to my mate "Muzza" for being the biggest prick/a****** to anyone tring to telemarket or knock on his door and sell him GOD, the guy makes me look like a softie. I've heard him use language at a Johovah that would make Chris Tucker blush, watched him yell at 100bd down the phone at a telemarketer, but the best by far was when the mormons came waltzing up to him while he was watering the garden, hehehe free shower boys, and his comment "remember turn the other check, so I can slap that one as well"....

Australia also has a national "Opt out list", its called ADMA. Only good companies like Optus use it (its not enforced by law yet).

You can visit the ADMA web site to opt out online for calls/email or direct mail. Just go to the consumer help area of the site.

I did work at a telemarketing place...heh...there's a thing you enter that takes them off the list...but if they're rude to you, you just select call back and later on someone will call them back about another offer...I did that to everyone who was rude to me without reason :) I was just doing my job...don't shoot the messenger ;)

Another one I did was selling the Kirby cleaner. Wasn't cold calling but like referal calls and s*** like that...but we weren't allowed to talk to unmarried / unpartnered people unless they owned their home, old people, etc, etc. There are so many comebacks to the word rejections too...you never say "im not interested"...there's a whole section for "im not interested" about why you aren't sort of thing :P

The best way is to say you're unemployed, in debt, f*** off (they might put you on the call back list though :P) or just 'NO!, hangup'. That works too..but I'd put you back on the callback list :P

Thank god that job's gone ;|

If what you were selling was soooo good it would be in the store, or a service that people wanted, telemarketing where you cold call the customer is usually conducted by businesses that don't have any real worthy product to sell, or some over priced scam like kirby. No justification can be made to using this technic, especially when there are so many other forms of advertising available, telemarketing was the spam of the 90's and should be eradicated along with all other forms of invasive advertising.

I wasn't selling anything. I don't even know WHO was selling it...Kirby doesn't use cold calling, uses like referals...which is like when people actually fill out a form to be called about it (it's the easiest form of outgoing call telemarketing stuff :P). The kirby is actually pretty sweet...I bought one myself .. f***in good cleaner!

I wasn't justifying it...I hated doing it. You get yelled at and abused all the time and you kinda go home feeling dirty..this one girl walked off the job on the spot...she said, and I quote..."I feel dirty!". It's a f***ed job...just very easy to get ;)

Personally...I don't care what I was selling or whatever. I don't care if it blew up on first use. I didn't make it, I didn't condone it, I just dialed numbers and read a script. As I said, I was just the messenger :P

I hung up on a male caller after hearing a company's name.
About 3 hrs later i received a call from a female rep at the same company.

"I'm not interested" seems to work fine when you ignore what ever they say afterwards and simply hang up.

The only thing I've gotten out of being called by a telemarketer is being called by a research company. They ring up every few weeks, and have me come down to group discussions. You get $22/hour to sit around and discuss topics with people you don't know :P It can be quite good.
