THQ have announced the release date of their anticipated upcoming shooter Metro 2033 - it's going to hit the streets here on March 18th, 2010 for Xbox 360 and PC. For those who came in late:
The year is 2033. An entire generation has been born and raised underground, and their besieged Metro Station-Cities struggle for survival, with each other, and the mutant horrors that await outside.

You are Artyom, born in the last days before the fire, but raised Underground. Having never ventured beyond your Metro Station-City limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible impending threat. Your journey takes you from the forgotten catacombs beneath the subway to the desolate wastelands above, where your actions will determine the fate of mankind.
Check out our game page for more information and a stack of screenshots; we've also got a bunch of trailers in the files library.

Interesting. It looks like a cross between the Stalker games and Fallout 3.
Might be worth a look.

Intriguing indeed, if it is a mix as you say Dazhel, then I'll definitely keep a lookout.

I was under the impression this was actually being developed by GSC Gameworld (The guys behind STALKER)

Ahh you're right Fuzzy, though I didn't make the connection between GSC Game World and 4A Games (the developers on this title).

Wiki says a bunch of GSC Game World developers split off to form 4A Games before the release of the first STALKER game and that the engines might share a common lineage.

Ah, that split I didn't know about. Hopefully it's all the best staff from GSC
